Case Study 2.0

Pacific Palisades, CA

REBUILDING LOS ANGELES  In the wake of the 2025 fires across Los Angeles, BAR Architects & Interiors joined Crest Real Estate’s Case Study 2.0 initiative to help rethink rebuilding. Inspired by the original Case Study House Program, the effort creates pre-approved, fire-resilient homes that reduce costs, accelerate permitting, and make recovery more attainable. For BAR, the goal was not simply to replace what was lost, but to design homes that help families return with greater resilience and belonging.

RESILIENCE WITH HUMANITY BAR’s homes reframe resilience as a lived experience of beauty, calm, and connection. Fire-resistant materials such as terracotta brick, cement plaster, and fiber cement panels create protection while maintaining warmth and familiarity. Light-filled rooms, purposeful outdoor thresholds, and reimagined front yards turn defensible space into places for gathering and daily life.

DESIGNED FOR CONNECTION  BAR believes architecture should strengthen the relationship between people, place, and community. Homes are designed with natural light, generous volumes, and seamless indoor-outdoor living that reflects California’s way of life. More than a response to fire, Case Study 2.0 creates homes built for safety and designed for belonging.
