Inverness Residence

Inverness, CA (UNDER CONSTRUCTION)

OF THE PINES AND THE BEACH  Set within the wooded landscape of Inverness, with walking path access to Shell Beach along Tomales Bay, Inverness Residence is designed as a sensible dialogue between California’s casual lifestyle and its untamed nature. Created for documentary filmmakers seeking a home deeply connected to place, the project reflects a modern beach house spirit: intentionally anti-suburban, effortless elegance without excess, and refined without excess polish.

A LIGHT TOUCH  Simple gabled forms are carefully sited in response to the topography and existing pines, allowing the landscape to remain dominant. Buildings float within softscape instead of hardscape, minimizing paving and visual disruption. Outdoor rooms, trails, and framed views connect the structures, while weathered woods, soft mineral tones, and muted natural textures allow the home to belong quietly to its environment.

RESILIENT  Located within a Very High Fire Hazard Severity Zone, the residence employs non-combustible exterior materials and CAL FIRE-compliant features that offer greater safety and long-term peace of mind. Prefabricated high-performance wall panels informed by passive house principles support energy efficiency, airtight construction, and durability. The result is a low-maintenance, sustainable home designed to endure.
