The Redwoods Senior Housing

Mill Valley, CA

A BELOVED COMMUNITY  Strongly supported and endeared by the Mill Valley Community, renovating and adding to this active senior residential community required a careful examination of both the architectural needs and the social and cultural elements that define The Redwoods senior community.

ENHANCING SOCIAL INTERACTION AND WELLNESS  Enhancements were achieved through reinterpreted arrivals “living room” with focal indoor/outdoor fireplace, patio, community garden, arbor and special event spaces. New wellness studio with therapy pool and fitness areas, updated kitchen, lighting and accessibility supports a host of everyday events essential to this active senior community.

REFRESHING WITH INTENT  Operating without significant improvements since establishment in 1972, deferred maintenance, operational and aesthetic issues were part of the overall design. An emphasis was placed on maintaining the ambience of the campus while protecting and highlighting the adjacent bay wetlands.
