Law Residence

Paso Robles, CA (UNDER CONSTRUCTION)

INTEGRATION WITH THE SITE  Responding to the breathtaking, knoll-top site with 270-degree views of Paso Robles and the Coastal Range, this single-story home is nestled among existing mature oaks. Sloping rooflines, corner windows and an infinity edge pool embrace the views. A wine cellar subtly carved from the sloping topography links to intimate terraces for taking in the sunset and a glass of the family’s award winning wine.

A PLACE TO GATHER  A home for the multi-generational family, and a place to entertain friends and winery guests, the architecture is inspired by garden pavilions around the world. Two wings create a central courtyard for a wind-protected, outdoor room.

ARTICULATION OF SPACE THROUGH MATERIALITY  Simple, expressed materials and finishes ensure the primary spaces are defined and connected. Concrete floors continue to exterior terraces, blurring the distinction between inside and out. Wood ceilings continue underneath roof overhangs, interrupted only by floor-to-ceiling glass. A massive stone wall anchors the living and master bedroom wing to the site through texture and color.
