The Current

Long Beach, CA

A GATEWAY TO DOWNTOWN  Located across from the beach, a dynamic façade, ground level retail and public plaza serve to create a new gateway into downtown Long Beach from the south.

INSPIRED BY MID-CENTURY ARCHITECTURE  Massing is broken into three main forms to create better proportions and emphasize verticality. A subtle nod to Mid-Century Southern California architecture is captured through the use of fins, cantilevered decks and grey and white tones.

A FOCUS ON SUSTAINABILITY  LEED-NC and LEED-ND certified, a variety of sustainable strategies including use of water efficient fixtures, recycled content construction materials, light sensors and increased unit natural ventilation were incorporated into the project.
