The Graduate Student Residences at Hilgard Avenue in the Westwood District of Los Angeles are two separate new building projects designed specifically for UCLA’s large and diverse single graduate student population.
Located directly across the street from the University Campus, both sites are surrounded by residential scale, Mediterranean-style buildings built in the 1930s. Adhering strictly to the Westwood Development height and setback limits, these buildings provide efficient light-filled studio-style living units with individual bathroom and kitchen, shared commons, mail and laundry facilities, limited parking in their own concrete subterranean garage and great connectivity to shared outdoor courtyard and terraced rear gardens.
The residences have been certified LEED Silver and comply with California’s ADA requirements. Exterior window shading, extra insulation, dual pane windows, water conserving toilets and highly efficient heating and cooling system are all integrated into the design of each unit to maximize comfort and reduce energy consumption.
