BAR Architects was asked to design two new student housing projects for Stanford University, which are among the first undergraduate residences built on campus in over 20 years.The first, Ng House, a new 41,800 gsf undergraduate housing complex, is located on an infill site adjacent to nearby existing student housing. This multi-story building provides beds for 125 undergraduate students (including Resident Assistants and 1-2 guest/visiting scholar studios) along with support spaces for a self-contained, resident fellow apartment.

Common areas for the new community include a lounge, library, kitchenette, laundry room, music room, TV room and game room. Additional spaces include individual and group study rooms supported by technology and flexible furnishings, hall alcoves on upper floors for gatherings, as well as a computer cluster and multimedia room.
