The Donald & Maureen Green Music Center, surrounded by the pastoral hills of Sonoma County, is destined to become an extraordinary music performance, educational and artistic center for Northern California and the Nation.
BAR Architects designed the Academic Building, Hospitality Center, lobby and support facilities that - together with the William Rawn designed 1,400-seat, world class Concert Hall - create an environment for students, professionals, audiences and performers to experience music-making, fine food and cultural events.
Sonoma State University's Department of Music, known especially for its choral and jazz programs, is now housed in the Academic Building. With numerous ensemble and rehearsal practice rooms, classrooms, administrative offices and a 250-seat Recital Hall, students and faculty are giving rave reviews for their new facilities. At the Hospitality Center, a restaurant with a landscaped garden, dining terraces, and private dining/conference rooms offer a unique setting for concert-goers, weddings and other special events. The support spaces for the concert hall include an entry courtyard, lobby, dressing rooms, public accommodations and the founders' room where donors meet before or after performances. The central lawn unifies the campus, creating a park-like setting for special events, picnics and simply taking in the Sonoma sun.
