612 Jefferson is a first-of-its-kind multifamily condominium development for Habitat for Humanity Greater San Francisco. The proposed design was conceived by BAR Architects to be complimentary to its neighbors yet distinctive in form. Materials are fiber cement siding in both horizontal and vertical formats to reference the horizontal lap siding on the historic single family residence to the south, and the verticality of the fenestration on the apartments to the north.

Floor plans were developed to maximize the buildable footprint while maintaining deference to the adjacent properties. The massing is set back from the property line above the podium level to permit the neighboring operable windows to remain, and locates the light court facing south, creating further relief to neighboring windows.

One-, two- and three-bedroom units provide living options for families of different sizes. To maintain efficiency, the dwelling units are configured with a minimum of kitchen and bathroom types. The building also employs mechanical parking to maximize the number of units with access to parking spaces.
