The former Palo Alto Medical Foundation site covers 10 acres just south of University Avenue in Palo Alto. The site includes a mix of uses including multi-family condominuims and single-family homes, 48,000 gsf of commercial office space, and a new 2-acre park. The park has been harmoniously sited to be accessible to a renovated historic building now used for a community and childcare center.
BAR was the design architect for three parcels of condominium and single-family homes within the master plan. Working together with Summerhill Homes, BAR Architects provided masterplanning and project design for University Park. The Woodmark provides 36 luxury multi-family condominiums and 10 single-family homes. These luxury condominiums, with approximately 2,300 gsf, are designed in the craftsman style with covered porches and stoops facing adjacent streets and the newly created park. The 10 single-family homes, which range in size from 2,700 to 3,400 gsf, have been designed in a variety of styles to blend with the adjacent historic fabric. The homes face Waverly Street to the east and the newly created pedestrian mews that connects Channing Avenue to the park. Rich detailing breaks-down the building scale and provides a strong aesthetic link to the existing neighborhood.
