The transformation of an ordinary house, sited amongst a grove of ponderosa pines just a short stroll from the shores of Lake Tahoe, into a substantial vacation residence required a strong hand. What had been merely a collection of rooms was molded to form an interconnected series of spaces suitable for entertaining. Interior and exterior finishes were replaced with pine and shingles, reflecting the home's mountain setting. A modest fireplace was given an important role and character in massive granite. Similarly, baths were completely reconfigured, a master bedroom suite was added above one end of the house as well as a large gourmet kitchen designed for entertaining. Perfect for hosting guests, an elaborate, enclosed barbecue pavilion sits directly across from the entertainment room. The pavilion features a massive stone barbecue with rotisserie capabilities, an additional kitchen, views to the woods and seating for 25.
