Faced with increased competition from numerous new, high-end, daily-fee and private clubs created nearby, Sierra View Country Club retained BAR Architects to assist them in creating a long-term development strategy.
In order to meet the club’s mission, BAR addressed the club’s specific goals including providing the facilities with modern, high-quality food and beverage services, and the flexibility for the clubhouse to accommodate a diverse range of activities. In addition, BAR was asked to upgrade their tennis, swim and fitness facilities. Improvements to the golf course were also included within the scope of the long range plan.
BAR analyzed the club’s existing facilities and based on those findings recommended that a new clubhouse be built. BAR then developed a conceptual design for the clubhouse and ancillary facilities. The concept developed with the club utilizes an elegant but understated California Country Style aesthetic. The white clapboard and stone 23,000 gsf clubhouse will provide a much more dramatic arrival sequence and help to clarify the various clubhouse functions. Additionally, the plan’s configuration provides a stronger visual connection to the golf course from all of the primary activity areas. The new facility will provide three separate entries for golf, social and event uses, to allow multiple functions to take place simultaneously without conflicts between member and non-member activities. A variety of food venues have been designed, including a banquet facility accommodating up to 300 people, member lounges and card rooms. Plans also include new men’s and women’s lockers, swim, tennis and fitness facilities.
