Bishop Ranch CityWalk

San Ramon, CA
Description Credits/Info

With the opening of City Center Bishop Ranch, a 300,000 sf lifestyle center designed by Renzo Piano Building Workshop in collaboration with BAR Architects, the first phase of bringing a vibrant mixed-use district to the residents of San Ramon was realized. BAR is currently working with Sunset Development, the City and residents of San Ramon to create a 135-acre master plan – with a “green” downtown and up to 4,500 residential units – to the City Center Mixed-Use District. While the plan will be achieved over a phased 25-year timeline, it strives to ultimately fulfill a decades-long goal of creating a vibrant live-work, transit-oriented, pedestrian and bicycle friendly neighborhood – a beautiful and inviting place where residents can work, shop, dine, socialize and live.

Each of the five residential neighborhoods will have a distinct character, with 500 to 1,200 housing units. In addition, the development will include a hotel for business travelers and other visitors, 170,000 sf of retail and office space, office parking structures, new recreational amenities such as expanded pedestrian and bicycle trails connecting to the Iron Horse Trail, transit centers, a 1,500-person public amphitheater and two community centers. Additional enhancements will be made to Annabel Lake including a new parking area, and public use of lakes, trails, amphitheater and other amenities.

A strong, sustainable central mixed-use district will underscore San Ramon’s renown as a modern, progressive City while creating new revenue streams that will help support the services and amenities that make the City such a desirable place to live, work and visit.
