Drone Video: See the new Brooklyn Basin project on Oakland’s waterfront
Drone footage from The East Bay Times offers a glimpse into construction at the BAR-designed Brooklyn Basin development in Oakland. The new 64-acre project near Interstate 880 and Fifth Avenue will bring 3,000 residences, parks, restored wetlands, a marina and 200,000 square feet of retail and commercial space. Brooklyn Basin covers 64 acres along the Oakland Estuary south of Jack London Square.
Affordable housing is one component of the large project spread over 64 acres of former industrial waterfront land along Interstate 880. The affordable units will be built on two parcels separate from market-rate housing in what will be a brand new neighborhood of retail, five residential towers, 30 acres of park space, a link to the Bay Trail and a marina with boat slips.
The first phase is expected to be completed in late 2018 or early 2019.
