City Center Bishop Ranch, Designed by Renzo Piano Building Workshop in Collaboration With BAR Architects, Opens to the Public
City Center Bishop Ranch in San Ramon, California is officially open to the public. Designed by Renzo Piano Building Workshop in collaboration with BAR Architects, the 300,000 square foot lifestyle center is a reinvention of the suburban shopping center.
Centered around the Piazza—a modern reflection on the traditional town square—City Center is a social hub blending culture, civic life and commerce for the San Ramon community. Conceived of as a civic display, the City Center façade presents ‘The Slate’ - a revolving ‘canvas’ presenting notable contributions to local East Bay culture. Several shops have opened, including THE LOT luxury cinema, West Elm, Pottery Barn, Williams Sonoma and local retailers, M by Maggie and Fieldwork Brewing Company – soon to be joined by many more.
Designed as a LEED Gold building, the many sustainability features include a roof mounted PV array, high efficiency mechanical and lighting systems and low-water use planting, among others.
