BAR Architects Working With MidPen Housing to Create Affordable Housing in Downtown San Mateo

David Israel, Patricia Centeno and Bradley Sugarman participated in an energetic San Mateo community meeting for MidPen Housing's Affordable Housing project which BAR is designing. This much needed project will provide 164 affordable apartments at two downtown San Mateo sites, offering opportunities for San Mateo employees to live near their work and to easily access public transportation.

The project also addresses parking accessibility. The article states:

"With increasing traffic congestion on the city’s interchanges with Highway 101, [Business Owner Tony Pagano] hoped the project would make use of public transportation and pedestrian connections to ease its effect on local traffic patterns. The project is expected to make 164 parking spaces available for residents at the top of the parking structure and open up 535 parking spots for the public on the garage’s lower levels, said Patricia Centeno of BAR Architects."
