CONGRATULATIONS TO OUR RISING BARstars

BAR Architects & Interiors Announces Promotions – December, 2025

Jee-Hee Haar, Architect, NOMA, Senior Associate
For more than two decades, Jee-Hee has shaped Bay Area architecture with a thoughtful, intuitive approach rooted in close observation and a deep appreciation for how people live. After early work in multifamily and mixed-use projects, she discovered her true passion in custom residential design – an intimate, collaborative process she considers a privilege.

Her design sensibility is deeply influenced by nature, art, and music; as a lifelong musician, she draws inspiration from the rhythm, harmony, and emotional resonance shared by both creative disciplines. Guided by the belief that great design should enrich the human spirit, she strives to create homes that feel warm, personal, and deeply connected to place.

Caroline Kim, Associate
Caroline is driven by a deep commitment to purpose-centered architecture, especially affordable housing. She finds meaning in work that expands access to equitable, thoughtfully designed homes – spaces that strengthen communities and improve daily life. She believes great design grows from a synergistic team that listens, collaborates, and responds to both user needs and environmental context, creating buildings that feel intuitive, connected, and genuinely supportive of the people they serve. Her sense of calm and inspiration comes from contrasts: the serenity of a wooded forest and the cool, tactile presence of concrete. Together, they reflect the balance she seeks in her work. Outside the studio, she’s on a constant quest for the next great pizza slice or cappuccino, exploring cities one flavorful discovery at a time.

Naveed Namaky, AIA, LEED AP BD+C, Associate
Naveed approaches architecture with a deep appreciation for order – not minimalism, but the disciplined clarity that comes from resolving a building down to its most essential components. His design style is ordered, thoughtful, and balanced, rooted in the belief that design is a journey: a verb, a process, and an evolving conversation with site, context, and community.

He is inspired equally by urban and natural landscapes, where complexity and coherence constantly negotiate with one another. Outside the studio, Naveed is an avid runner and hiker who once trekked the John Muir Trail and plans to return – faster. He’s also an obsessive cook and a dedicated dad, finding joy in the same principles that guide his work: rhythm, balance, and care.

Sonia Trujillo, Associate
Sonia brings a spirited curiosity to BAR’s multifamily work, guided by the belief that great design should spark emotion – comfort, delight, curiosity, and the occasional moment of surprise. She draws inspiration from the vitality of cities, especially David Chipperfield’s ideas about density, diversity, and the overlap of public and private realms. Her experience spans multifamily housing, restaurant tenant improvements, and retail core-and-shell work, including contributions to Fountain Street Affordable Housing, Avalon Bishop Ranch, and the UCLA Nimoy Renovation. Passionate about reintroducing nature into architecture, she explores how spaces can create variable, unexpected experiences that evolve over time. Outside the studio, Sonia enjoys discovering new restaurants and spending time outdoors hiking and biking – always gathering inspiration for what design can make possible.

Sandra Chow, AIA NOMA, Associate
Sandra brings 15 years of hospitality and commercial design experience across the Bay Area, grounded in a background that spans project management, firm operations, and creative direction. She sees design as a way to connect with people, materials, and place, approaching every scale of work with curiosity and intention. She is energized by the future of architecture, particularly how technology, adaptability, and sustainability can be integrated proactively to create responsible, meaningful environments. For Sandra, great design reveals itself over time – supporting everyday rituals while offering moments of surprise and connection. Outside the studio, she finds joy in community, whether through urban hikes, comedy shows, concerts, or spontaneous gatherings with friends and family that remind her why shared experiences matter.

Caroline Christiano, Architect, LEED GA, Associate
Caroline brings a future oriented, hands-on approach to BAR. Originally from upstate NY, she studied architecture at Cornell before moving to SF in 2021, focusing on high-end residential and hospitality work. A Licensed CA Architect, LEED Green Associate, and USGBC member, she is committed to advancing sustainability across the firm’s projects, with a particular passion for bio-based and circular materials that reduce environmental impact while enhancing quality of life. Her project experience includes the Olive Hill Pool House, The Lodge at Pebble Beach, and several ongoing collaborations with Pebble Beach Company. Beyond project work, Caroline supports the +Future Group and helps colleagues explore the Maker Space through trainings and community engagement efforts. She also participates in volunteer building projects, finding joy in working with her hands for a greater purpose.

Ram Subramanian, LEED AP BD+C, Associate
Ram brings a quietly observant, detail-driven approach to architecture, shaped by his belief that the built environment influences our lives in subtle but powerful ways. His design style – timeless, elegant, and contextual – reflects a commitment to refining ideas until they reach true resolution. He is especially energized by the role technology and AI will play in advancing sustainability, from iterative design exploration to the development of durable, low-carbon materials. Through photography, he engages with the world in two distinct rhythms – capturing unexpected urban compositions and their fleeting patterns and studying the shifting light of natural landscapes. Ram seeks inspiration in everyday objects and experiences, believing extraordinary design emerges from a fresh perspective on the ordinary. He thrives on open dialogue, constructive critique, and elevating design at every stage.
