Profile

As a Senior Technical Architect at BAR you will be an office leader in the investigation and implementation of innovative technologies and systems that can improve the quality, cost effectiveness and performance of our work, including high-performance building systems, materials and enclosure systems that reduce environmental impact. You will collaborate with office leaders to foster a culture of that prides itself on:

  • Inspiring project teams around technical design opportunities and upholding design rigor with details that support and reinforce the larger vision of the projects
  • Highly competent technical staff
  • High-quality, coordinated construction documents 
  • Excellent construction quality and building performance

 

Technical Leadership

  • Collaborate with project leadership to ensure technical performance and design quality
  • Develop and maintain mentoring and coaching relationship with project architects and all technical staff
  • Facilitate training and knowledge sharing to ensure development of staff and resources
  • Provide oversight of the technical aspects of project delivery including implementation of the project, document planning, standards and quality assurance

 

Essential Job Requirements

  • Advanced knowledge of project design, construction documentation and construction materials
  • Management and leadership skills; able to inspire by doing, managing and/or leading as the context requires 
  • Understanding of the relationship of building technology with client needs, consultant requirements and construction, throughout the entire project development process
  • Advanced technical skills, including materials application, building codes and buildings systems knowledge
  • 15+ years of experience on Type I, Type II projects, at a variety of scales
  • General understanding of legal aspects of the profession and proven risk management ability
  • Effective verbal and written communication and presentation skills (including content development) 
  • Proven ability to influence, lead, manage, inspire a diverse and multigenerational workforce
  • Demonstrates collaborative and professional work ethic
  • Professional Degree in Architecture
  • Revit and Autocad proficiency
  • Licensed Architect
  • LEED AP
