My parents instilled in me at a young age a love of art and music, and for that I am very grateful. The guitar playing peaked in college, but the painting carries on!

When did you know you wanted to be an architect?
In 8th grade we did an assignment to draw a life sized image of yourself as an adult and I made myself an architect. I loved drawing and math so it seemed like a good direction, although in hindsight I didn’t know any architects or have a clue what they really did. I got lucky!

Architect, living or dead, with whom you would love to talk shop?
Bjarke Ingels, the founder of BIG. He’s one of the few architects pushing the design of multifamily housing and I appreciate his entrepreneurial drive and success, especially at such a relatively young age.

We have been working towards a more sustainable future how have you seen sustainability incorporated in the architecture industry?
I believe that sustainability manifests itself at many different levels. I appreciate the focus within our office and across much of the industry in individual building sustainability, and also think there should be more discussion at a broader level relative to the type of work we take on as architects. This has helped lead me towards a focus on urbanism and specifically mixed-use multifamily projects, both market rate and affordable.
