INSPIRATION / SELECTED PROJECTS

“We borrow from nature the space upon which we build.” — Tadao Ando

We have been working towards a more sustainable future. How do you see sustainability incorporated in design?
I see sustainability in design as the thoughtful use of materials and strategies that reduce environmental impact while improving quality of life. It means choosing low-impact materials, minimizing waste, and creating spaces that use energy and resources efficiently. Ultimately, it’s about designing with intention – considering a project’s full life cycle and the well-being of both people and the planet.

Tell us about any volunteer work or causes you are passionate about.
I am passionate about volunteer construction efforts. I’ve participated in different volunteer builds through organizations like Habitat for Humanity in San Francisco, Lowernine in New Orleans, and Linking Hands for Learning in El Sauce, Nicaragua. Not only does it help others, but for me as an architect, it’s just fun to be out there working with my hands!

What advice would you give to a new architect?
I’d encourage them to stay curious, fight for what they’re passionate about, and let human needs guide their design decisions over aesthetics.
