"When starting a new project I always ask the client why the project is important to them. Their response often reveals a personal connection that ultimately furthers our collaboration and inspires me."

What makes great design?

What makes great design is our process of research and storytelling. We start by immersing ourselves with on-site research of a new project to better understand its location, experience the competition and discover how the location can influence the brand positioning. Followed by in depth research, which all lead to a unique concept and story to weave and tell.

What's your favorite building in SF and why?

I have two favorite buildings in San Francisco, One Bush Plaza also known as the Crown Zellebach Building by SOM, the first International Style building in SF. Its simplistic shape and floor to ceiling glass curtain wall is beautifully detailed and timeless. The separate glass pavilion lobby floating above the garden is one of my favorite lobbies. My other favorite building is 560 Mission Street by Cesar Pelli, which to me, is an interpretation that honors One Bush Plaza with it’s simple shape and glass curtain wall, which is beautifully detailed with a second layer of dark green/black mullions creating a “lacey” detail.
