Sol Harvest Village

Visalia, CA

SPECIAL RECOGNITION  Architecture at Zero design competition for decarbonization, equity, and resilience awarded honors to Sol Harvest Village for equity narrative. Conceived to support a close-knit community, this zero net energy design focuses on low carbon indoor-outdoor living with easy access to amenities and support services.

PROVIDING EQUITY  Our team interviewed staff from a non-profit farmworker support group in Hollister and a Visalia resident to gain additional insight to create an equitable design to support the families as well as a strong sense of place and identity for each resident.

SUPPORTING HEALTHY LIVING  Our design focused on ways to protect residents from ongoing exposure to potential health hazards and pollutants resulting from chemicals used in agriculture and local poor air quality; including areas for each resident to change their work clothing prior to entering their dwelling units.
